• What do I do once I get my Deed Poll?
• You need to sign your Deed Poll, once for your old name, and once for your new name. You need to date your Deed Poll on the last paragraph, and have your signature witnessed by someone over the age of 18.
• Can I change the name on my birth certificate and Divorce Decree?
• You cannot change the name on your Birth certificate and Divorce Decree.
• Can I have Lord or Sir as my first name?
• You can change your name to anything you wish, as long as it is not for fraudulent or criminal means.
• Are there any additional costs?
• The only additional fees are for getting a passport and/or driving license reissued in your new name and those fees you will have to pay direct to DVLA or Passport agency.
• Will my passport make any reference to my old name?
• You will receive a brand new passport, with no reference to your old name.
• What is the difference between a Postal Deed Poll and an Email one?
• The wording and the layout of the Deed Polls are the same, the Postal Deed Poll is printed by us, and E-mail Deed Poll is printed by yourself, we recommend that you should print your Deed Poll on a good quality paper.
• If I have printed the Deed Poll myself, is it legal?
• Once you have signed, dated and had your Deed Poll witnessed, it becomes a legal document, even if you have printed it out yourself.
• Can I change details of my Deed Poll?
• If you've made a mistake completing your order, or if something just doesn't look right on your confirmation email, contact us within an hour using our Contact Us form and we will correct the mistake.

• You're Deed Poll is ready to use, all you need to do is sign and date the deed poll document and have the document witnessed. Witness does not have to be a professional person, any Person can witness your deed poll who knows you but not your relative.
• Can I change my name to any name I like?
• You can change your name to any name that you wish to as long as this does not include numbers or symbols or includes punctuation mark although a hyphen to form names together is acceptable as in apostrophe, for example, O'Donnell.
  Also UK Deed Polls reserves the right to refuse to provide a Deed Poll where the new name is considered is likely to cause offence to others.  In such circumstances we will refund your full payment back.

• Our Deed Polls are accepted throughout the UK and Worldwide with UK consulates, embassies and UK foreign agencies etc.
• How many times can I change my name?
• You can change your name by Deed Poll as many times as you want, you can even be a different person every week.
• Signing a Deed Poll Document?
• When you order your Deed Poll from UK Deed Poll, the important sections are all pre-completed. This ensures that your Deed Poll is accurate (unlike some companies which ask you to complete your own form).
  
  All you need to do is sign and date the relevant sections, and your Deed Poll becomes a legal document ready for use.
  
  1.   Fill in the date in the last paragraph. This is the date that you want your name change to be Legal form.
  
  2.   It can be today's date, or a date in the future (by default our system displays the current year, if you want a different year, then let us know).
  
  3.   Sign the Deed Poll with your New Name on the dotted line above where your new name is printed.
  
  4.   Sign the Deed Poll with your Old Name on the dotted line above where your old name is printed.
  
  5.   Have your witness sign on the line labelled Witness, print their name and complete their address and occupation details. Your witness can be anyone over the age of 18, who is not related to you.
  
  6.   For a child's Change of Name a parent or a Legal guardian will have do all the above mentioned steps on behalf of the Child.
  
  Your Deed Poll is now legal and ready to use, congratulations.
  
• Who can apply for a change a name deed poll?
• In order to apply to change your name by Deed Poll, you need to fulfill at least one of the following criteria:
  
  
  • British and Living in the UK
    If you are British and live in the United Kingdom, then you can apply for a Change of name Deed Poll document directly from us.
  • British and Living abroad
    You will need to check with your nearest British Consulate of High commision to check that there are no special requirements that must be met.
  • Foreign national Living in the UK
    You should check with your nearest Consulate or High Commision to see whether a Change of name Deed Poll is accepted by them as proof of a name change.
  • Age
    You need to be 16 or over to be apply for a Change of name Deed Poll directly from us.
  • Age for Child
    If the child is under 16 then one of the parent or legal Guardian has to apply for the child's change of name deed poll document from us.

• Why do people change their names?
